Talent Show-2015 (Year 10)

On the first day of Term 3, the Year 10 Community Arts class was told about our next project: the MIGS Annual Talent Night. William, Sarah Tan, Miu Sera and Kyran were selected to lead this task. We were each given roles for the preparation of the event, as well as our duties on the day itself. I was assigned to be the leader of the Stage Management team.

The Environmental Project led by Hafiz, Innas and Tasya was to be run on the same evening too. We were divided into 5 teams. Each team had to set up a booth on one of the following topics: Deforestation, Polar Ice Caps, Recycling, Elephants and River Pollution.

In the hall, the talent-show started off with a lively act by the Year 8s, titled ‘SHOW-CEPTION’. The amazing acting by the 8th graders sent the audience into fits of giggles and laughter. Then there was a graceful piece played on the piano by Mikhael, followed by an energetic dance routine performed by a group of Korean students Rania, Joshua and Andrew. Subsequently, a dance by Divashri to the hit-song “Uptown Funk” enlivened the mood, before 4 girls from Year 3 Terra, Yada, Lauren and Sofia danced dynamically to “Pink Champagne”, leading to a piano version of the hit song “Let It Go” by Rio. The Junior School performances ended with a fusion dance from a 5th grader Rayedah, after which Chang Yi treated the audience to a solo performance of the song from Furious 7, “See You Again”.

The Senior School performances began with a Year 7 student, Natasha, beautifully singing “Riptide”. Following this was gymnastic show by two 9th graders, Lyana and Bianca. Then, last year’s Talent Night winner, Rafik, returned with a touching song, before a splendid duet performance by and Jihye, playing the piano and ocarina, respectively. Next up was Mik from Year 8, who sang the song “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You” in sublime fashion.

The winners for the junior section were:
·         Rania, Joshua and Andrew
·         Rayedah and
·         Divashri

The senior school victors were:
·         Brotherhood (Dimas and Rakah, Aditya),
·         Mik and Natasha

Our promising batch of Year 10s handled this project well by meticulously taking care of every detail. Most of all we learnt the importance of teamwork, collaboration and cooperation.
